BAKED CHAI DONUTS WITH COCONUT SUGAR TOPPING

Hey guys! Here’s a yummy and healthy recipe you can pair with your tea or coffee when you’re on the go in the mornings, and they are very easy to make! You can also have them as a treat when the cravings kick in, or pretty much whenever you feel like having a donut because donuts are awesome πŸ™‚ I know I have a hard time saying no to donuts, but saying yes to these were pretty easy for me πŸ˜‰

Recipe: Yields 8-10; modified from eatgoodforlife

1 3/4 cup brown rice flour
1/2 cup organic coconut palm sugar
2 organic cage free eggs
1 tsp. gluten/aluminum free baking powder
1/2 tsp. gluten/aluminum free baking soda
2 tbsp. organic extra virgin olive oil
1/2 cup organic unsweetened almond milk
1/3 cup organic unsweetened apple sauce
1 Yogi chai tea bag (emptied into mixing bowl)

Topping

1 Yogi chai tea bag (emptied into mixing bowl)
1/3 cup organic coconut palm sugar
3-4 tbsp. melted GHEE or organic virgin coconut oil

Directions:

Preheat oven to 350Β°F. Grease two donut pans and set aside.

In a bowl, whisk eggs, apple sauce, coconut sugar, milk and oil. Add flour, baking powder, baking soda and chai tea bag and Mix until combined.

Generously grease the donut pan with coconut oil or butter, then fill each donut hole 2/3 full using a large ziplock bag or spoon.

Place donuts in the oven and bake for 22 minutes. Take donuts out of the oven and let them cool for 5 minutes, then gently flip donut pan on a table lined with parchment paper until the donuts fall out.

While the donuts cool, melt the butter in a safe microwavable dish. In another bowl, mix the sugar with chai tea bag ingredients. Dip each donut in the butter followed by the sugar.

Serve when ready! Store donuts in the refrigerator for a week.
